Hey there, let's talk privacy

Look, we get it - privacy policies can be a total snooze-fest. But here at Mythrune Continuum, we actually care about your personal info and want you to know exactly what we do with it. No corporate jargon, no sneaky clauses - just honest talk about how we handle your data.

This policy covers everything we collect when you stay with us, book a room, visit our spa, or just browse our website. We've organized it into sections so you can jump straight to what matters to you.

Alright, so here's the deal with what info we gather:

Personal Details

When you book with us, we'll need the basics - your name, email, phone number, and address. Pretty standard stuff for any hotel reservation. We also grab your payment info, but that's handled through secure payment processors (we don't actually store your full credit card numbers on our servers).

Stay Preferences

Things like room preferences, dietary requirements for our heritage dining, spa treatment choices - basically anything that helps us make your stay better. If you've got allergies or special needs, we keep that on file too.

Website Activity

Like most websites, we use cookies to track how you navigate our site. It helps us see what's working and what's not. We can tell which pages you visit, how long you hang out, and what device you're using. Nothing creepy, just useful analytics.

We're not in the business of collecting data just for kicks. Here's what we actually do with it:

  • Processing your bookings - Obviously, right? Can't reserve a room without your details.
  • Communicating with you - Confirmation emails, check-in reminders, special offers if you've opted in.
  • Improving your experience - Remembering your preferences so next time you don't have to tell us you're gluten-free again.
  • Marketing - But only if you've said it's cool. We'll never spam you without permission.
  • Legal stuff - Sometimes we gotta keep records for tax purposes or if there's a legal requirement.

We'll never sell your data to third parties. That's not our style. Your info stays with us or with trusted partners who help us run the hotel (like payment processors or booking platforms).

Yeah, we use cookies - not the delicious kind from our heritage kitchen, but the digital ones. Here's the breakdown:

Essential Cookies

These are the ones that keep the website actually functioning. Things like remembering what's in your booking cart or keeping you logged in. Can't really turn these off without breaking the site.

Analytics Cookies

We use Google Analytics and similar tools to understand how folks use our site. Helps us figure out what's confusing or what people love. All anonymous though - we're not tracking individuals specifically.

Marketing Cookies

These help us show you relevant ads if you've visited our site. You know how you look at something online and then see ads for it everywhere? That's what these do. You can opt out in your browser settings if it bugs you.

Most browsers let you control cookies through their settings. Just heads up - if you disable them all, some parts of our site might not work properly.

We're pretty protective of your info, but there are a few trusted partners we work with:

  • Payment processors - Companies like Stripe or PayPal that handle transactions securely.
  • Booking platforms - If you book through third-party sites, they'll have access to your reservation details.
  • Email services - We use email platforms to send you confirmations and updates.
  • Analytics providers - Google Analytics and similar services that help us understand site traffic.
  • Local tour operators - If you book our guided cultural tours, we'll share necessary info with our tour partners.

All these partners are bound by confidentiality agreements and only get the info they need to do their job. We don't just hand out your data willy-nilly.

Security's a big deal for us. Here's what we do to keep your data safe:

  • SSL encryption - All data transmitted through our site is encrypted. You'll see that little padlock in your browser.
  • Secure servers - Our data's stored on protected servers with regular security updates and monitoring.
  • Limited access - Only staff who need your info to do their jobs can access it. Everyone's trained on privacy protocols.
  • Regular audits - We run security checks and update our systems to stay ahead of potential threats.
  • PCI compliance - Our payment processing meets industry standards for handling credit card info.

That said, no system's 100% foolproof. We do our best, but if you notice anything suspicious with your account, let us know ASAP.

This is your data, and you've got rights. Here's what you can do:

Access Your Data

Want to see what info we've got on you? Just ask. We'll send you a copy within 30 days.

Correct or Update Info

Got a new email or moved to a different address? You can update your details anytime through your account or by contacting us.

Delete Your Data

Want us to forget you? We can delete your personal info (though we might need to keep some stuff for legal or accounting reasons).

Opt Out of Marketing

Every marketing email we send has an unsubscribe link. Click it and you're off the list. No hard feelings.

Data Portability

Need your data in a format you can use elsewhere? We can export it for you in a common file format.

To exercise any of these rights, shoot us an email at reservations@mythrunecontinuum.info or give us a call at (604) 555-7823.

We don't hang onto your info forever. Here's our general approach:

  • Active reservations - We keep your booking info for as long as you have a reservation and for a reasonable period after your checkout (usually around 7 years for accounting purposes).
  • Marketing lists - If you've opted into our marketing emails, we'll keep your contact info until you unsubscribe or if you haven't engaged with us in over 3 years.
  • Website data - Analytics and cookie data typically gets anonymized or deleted after 26 months.
  • Legal requirements - Some stuff we're required to keep longer for tax or legal reasons, typically 7 years.

Once we don't need your data anymore, we securely delete or anonymize it. No point in keeping stuff we don't need.

Our website and services aren't directed at kids under 16, and we don't knowingly collect info from them. If you're booking a family stay, we'll need info about children in your party (like ages for proper room setup), but we collect that through the adult making the reservation.

If we somehow end up with data from someone under 16 without parental consent, we'll delete it as soon as we're aware. Parents, if you think we've got your kid's info by mistake, reach out and we'll sort it out.

We're based in Canada, but some of our service providers might be located in other countries. When we transfer data internationally, we make sure it's protected according to Canadian and international privacy standards.

If you're visiting from the EU or other regions with strict data protection laws, we've got appropriate safeguards in place. This might include standard contractual clauses or other legally approved transfer mechanisms.

By using our services, you're acknowledging that your data might be processed in countries with different privacy laws than your own. But don't worry - we still maintain the same high standards regardless of where the data's processed.
